From February 2024, MidiUmi will be supporting the activities of more trees general incorporated association as a corporate supporter.
More Trees is a general incorporated association for forest conservation founded by musician Ryuichi Sakamoto. It was founded in 2007 by five founders, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, Shinichi Nakazawa, and Moichi Kuwahara, with over 100 supporters, to take action against the accelerating deforestation and global warming crisis.
We have opened "more trees forests" in 18 locations both in Japan and overseas, and are working with local communities to conserve forests. We are also involved in a variety of initiatives, such as planning and developing products and services that utilize domestic timber, and disseminating information and the appeal of forests through seminars and events, with the aim of creating a "society where forests and people can live together forever," with the keyword "connecting cities and forests."
The fashion industry, in which we are involved, is said to have a large environmental impact due to factors such as the amount of energy used in manufacturing and the short life cycle of products.
That is why we wanted to support more trees, which aims to create a sustainable environment.
We have been involved in this initiative for some time, but have now become a corporate supporter to continue supporting its activities.
MidiUmi wants to be part of a larger network that protects the environment.
We support and endorse the activities of More Trees in order to achieve major environmental initiatives that we cannot undertake alone.
I think it would be wonderful if wearing MidiUmi clothes could lead to some small support somewhere.
