This may be a sudden question, but do you know about Earth Day?
Although it is not very well known in Japan, April 22nd is Earth Day every year.
When asked what kind of day it is, I don't do anything specific.
A day to think about the global environment.
It sounds very grand, but it's a day when everyone thinks about the global environment and everyone is free to express their intention to protect it in their own way.
Earth Day is well-known in the United States, and many familiar companies are also taking part in the celebration.
(Apple, Google, etc.)
I'm sure you are aware that warning bells are being sounded about the deterioration of the global environment.
Global warming, deforestation, marine pollution, air pollution, water pollution, garbage problems, etc. And the resulting impact on ecosystems. The list goes on and on.
Unfortunately, none of these can be dramatically improved in the near future, but they are all problems that affect other people.
What can we do to show our commitment to protecting the global environment?
Let's start by doing something we can do.
It may seem like a cliché, but we decided to reconsider the packaging materials we use to deliver to our customers.
For a limited time only, from April 9th to 23rd we will be holding the Earth Day Fair, where we will be using minimal plastic packaging.
The outer packaging is made from 100% FSC-certified recycled paper.
The inner bag for clothes will be changed from plastic to tissue paper, and the Scotch tape used will be changed to paper tape.
FSC certification is an international system that certifies "appropriate forest management" and was established with the aim of sustainable forest utilization and conservation. Products made from certified forests are affixed with the FSC logo.
MidiUmi hopes to be part of a larger network that protects the global environment and ecosystem.
Our efforts are still small in scale, but we will continue to think about and act on what we can do one step at a time for the future.
A day to think about the global environment. Perhaps it's a day to imagine a prosperous future.
Earth Day Fair
