This time we will be introducing "ambivalence avenue" by bibio.
bibio is the solo project of British musician and producer Stephen James Wilkinson.
In 2004, they signed with the American indie label Mush Records and released their debut album, "Fi," in 2005. They then moved to the prestigious Warp Records in 2009, and released the album we're introducing today, "ambivalence avenue," in the same year.
Their unique style was originally characterized by a fusion of analogue lo-fi sound and various genres of music, and this album sees that unique sound evolve even further.
The album is a blend of pleasant acid folk and electro, but also incorporates elements of hip hop and breakbeats at key points, which I think is quite an ambitious piece even for bibio.
This is just my imagination, but I'm sure he must have been very excited about his first release from Warp Records, a label that continues to produce groundbreaking music.
It's a genre-less and somewhat difficult album, but the delicate sounds and beautiful melodies that overlap one another run through the album.
This is a slightly older album, but no matter how many times I listen to it, the organic comfort of this album never fades. Personally, I think it's a masterpiece.
As an aside, Bibio is very popular and provides music for commercials for global companies such as Amazon and Google.
