I haven't been able to introduce music for a long time...
If a period of time passes, I feel like I've lost my motivation and I'm not sure what to introduce.
The rainy season ended early this year, and now it's fully summer.
So, this is an album that I would like to listen to in the summer. This is purely my personal opinion.
This time we will be introducing "World Wide Pop" by Superorganism
A very straightforward title. Refreshingly clean. The contents of this album are exactly as the title suggests, and the cover art is just like the worldview. It's a multinational, psychedelic, somewhat silly and happy album. It's the perfect vibe for a hot summer.
Superorganism is a London-based band, and the album we're introducing today is their second album, released in 2022.
There are eight members, all from different places, but the vocalist is surprisingly Japanese. Is it because I'm a fangirl that I feel a sense of affinity with them just because of that?
The band is signed to Domino, a leading British label that represents big artists such as Franz Ferdinand and Arctic Monkeys, so it's exciting to see a Japanese artist signed to such a label.
(There are other great artists in Domino...more on that another day.)
I've digressed, so to get back to the contents of the album, it's a mix of psychedelic indie pop, funky, electric, and emo, but that's what makes it fun.
The guest appearances and production are also impressive.
Even amongst the gorgeous content, the guest appearance that stands out is that of Gen Hoshino, Japan's proud super pop craftsman.
Well, there's no reason not to give it a listen.
This is an album that may just make your hot summer even hotter.
