Denmark, a Nordic country, is a design powerhouse
Denmark has produced many great masters who have made their mark in design history, including Hans J. Wegner, Arne Jacobsen, and Kaare Klint.
The simple and modern design of their furniture, which combines functionality and beauty, continues to fascinate the world today.
Scandinavian interior design is also popular in Japan, and it seems that many of the interior designs chosen are Danish furniture.
When it comes to furniture, why choose Danish furniture?
Have you ever heard of the word "Hygge"? It is a Danish word that means "cozy, peaceful."
In Denmark, people are particular about their interior design in order to spend the long, cold winters comfortably.
Their commitment is characterized by functional, warm and simple designs.
It is said that the current simple design developed in the 1940s when consumer cooperatives began producing furniture with the aim of enriching the Danish people, with the motto of "high quality, affordable prices, and excellent functionality and design."
There is also a widespread culture of cherishing and using things for a long time, and one of the characteristics of the area is that there is a lot of furniture that makes use of the wood grain, which changes over time and can be enjoyed.
I've strayed a bit and started talking about furniture, but please forgive me as this is not a furniture exhibition.
With the academic cooperation of the Danish Design Museum, the exhibition brings together around 200 pieces, including the famous Royal Copenhagen porcelain, furniture masterpieces from the golden age of Danish design, and contemporary products.
This autumn is the season for art, so why not enjoy learning about Danish design history?
